Macy’s managed to keep the location of the 4th July show secret till the last moment. The show was a mix of pop and patriotic anthems celebrating New York City’s resilience during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Pop and national music, patriotic music, presented a blend of energy. Usually, the 4th July fireworks are a night festival. But, this year the festival was broken into multi-night small celebrations. All five boroughs started on Monday, June 29, and found the finale on Wednesday, July 1. Then on July 4th, a grand finale fireworks show atop of the Empire State Building concluded the festivities.

The Macy’s kept the show in a way “to encourage and support COVID-19 safety” and to promote social distancing. They also said that they have chosen to delight New Yorkers with unannounced displays.
