Apple has been quite consistent with its OS release, mostly with its new Apple products. Like last year, Apple has recently rolled out the latest iOS version, iOS 15.1, which is the set of polishing features and much more. The release of iOS 14 was a revolutionary step in the history of iOS, along with the app library and stackable widgets. And undoubtedly, there should be a high level of expectancy with the news of the release of iOS 15.

According to the official reports from Apple, SharePlay was going to be one of the birds’ eyes for the iOS 15.1 launch. Well, there were other features announced that seemed to be promising. After releasing such a hot-cake iOS version, we have so many expectations regarding iOS 15.1.

Let’s see how well iOS 15.1 has performed so far and where it can have improvements.

What’s New with iOS 15.1?

It’s not overrated to expect something new from the latest iOS version. Apple has finally knocked down the wall of unique features for Apple gadgets, and you can now bridge the gap between an Apple and a non-Apple device. Whether you are thinking about Facetiming your friend who has an Android or a Windows device, it’s now possible with iOS 15.1. Experts from the iPhone Repair service have confirmed that iOS users can initiate a Facetime call and distribute it over non-Apple platforms.

The credit goes to the advent of the new feature induced by Facetime. You can now share the FaceTime link through a web link, but not through Firefox. Additionally, it comes with Spatial Audio and Wide Spectrum features for a better experience through microphones. These features are added to reduce the background noise.

How was the experience with the FaceTime call? When we tried FaceTiming on different Android devices, we got distorted screens in some cases. However, things appeared to be quite stable when we tested the FaceTime call on Windows devices using the Microsoft Edge browser.

SharePlay Hits the Floor!

FaceTime calls are not the only thing to excite your nerves about iOS 15.1. As promised, iOS 15.1 brings the SharePlay feature into liveliness. Well, you can’t access SharePlay until you haven’t launched FaceTime. When you have connected to someone through FaceTime, you can launch a supported application to share the content through FaceTime.

Next, you would see a screen asking for confirmation. However, the experience with SharePlay was seamless and lag-free. The best part about SharePlay is that anyone using the feature can navigate through the content. Additionally, you can notice every caller attending the FaceTime call via picture-in-picture boxes. The viewing of callers is a little bit tight on iPhones, but it’s good to opt for iPads and Apple TVs.

Apart from dedicated platforms for content watching, SharePlay offers shareable games, such as Heads-Up. On the other hand, Fitness Plus works on SharePlay and over different devices. But, you will require an Apple watch to initiate the Fitness Plus benefits and share your goals through SharePlay.

Currently, Hulu, HBO Max, Paramount Plus, the NBA, Showtime, and TikTok work fine with the SharePlay feature. Even if you’re not a FaceTime fan, you can’t ignore these upgrades from iOS 15.1.

Focus Modes

This initiative from Apple is remarkable. The Focus appears to be more versatile and precise compared to Screentime, introduced with iOS 12. Are you addicted to the screen? Then, Focus is here to help you with Do Not Disturb mode and much more. You can work on your Work, Sleep, Fitness, and Personal Time schedule with the latest innovation from Apple.

If you don’t want to be contacted, you can focus on that. Your contacts will discover you as unavailable through Messenger and certain permitted third-party applications. However, they can knock you through the Urgent Message option.

In addition to this, if you assign one Focus Mode on a particular Apple device, it will be synced to other Apple devices. If you want this feature to work for you, your contacts have to use Apple devices.

Additional Improvements to Apps

Apple has taken machine learning approaches very seriously and utilized them in iOS 15.1. The agenda to make iOS more reliable has become successful with the launch of iOS 15.1. For example, imaging techniques are rocking the user experience with visual look-up, people, and object identification.

Let’s review the redesigned aspects of iOS 15.1:

Maps

Apple Maps is competing closely with Google Maps. From the Earth-like view to every tiny detail around your locality, every pinch goes awesome and satisfactory. The addition of the 3D view has included the new thrill for experiencing roads under bridges and overpasses.

Moreover, the application will let you know when your next train or bus will arrive at your location. No doubt, every transit will be more exciting with Maps from Apple with iOS 15.1.

Photos

Fetch Memories, automatically generated slideshows, and much more with iOS 15.1. Additionally, iOS 15.1 allows you to set your picture as the background soundtrack on Apple Music.

On the other hand, Photos can now identify people, cats, dogs, food items, and much more. The credit goes to the smart artificial intelligence methods. If you want to know something more about pictures, then look for the information button and tap on it.

Well, the buzz regarding Photos doesn’t end here. Apple’s newest innovation, Optical Character Recognition or Live Text, will definitely steal your heart. This feature recognizes any block of texts in photos, and you can copy and paste those blocks of words on any application. You can tap and hold your finger to choose the text and act on it. The magic of Live Text works on any relevant Apple photo apps and camera, as well.

Safari

Safari needs no introduction, and users have been enjoying the user interface of this iOS browser. Switching among tabs becomes more reliable and convenient with the iOS 15.1 launch. Browsing gets a new definition of navigation through the swipe to the search bar.

iOS 15.1 comes with improvements required for one-hand browsing. Now, you can customise the background of the Safari browser. Additionally, you can stack your Safari’s Start page with your interests, such as Sports, Entertainment, News, Weather, and anything you like.

Weather

Apart from these, Weather has got something to show the world. The Apple Weather application comes with temperature reading, air quality index, humidity, precipitation, and much more.

Weather applications can let you know when it’s going to rain or when you can experience a thunderstorm. However, the glance of Weather statistics is still missing from the lock screen of iPhones.

Security and Privacy Boosted

Apple is synonymous with privacy and security standards. Devices and operating systems from Apple never seem to compromise with risks. iOS 15.1 comes with an in-built authentication application feature, and this strengthens the two-factor authentication factor. On the other hand, iOS 15 lets you show the App Privacy Report to look at the location, mic, photos, and many more applications.

Safari can prevent outsiders from sneaking into your IP address and so on. Furthermore, Safari and Siri come with enhanced child protection features. Therefore, iOS 15.1 has turned out to be a genius operating system till now. However, users reported consecutive bulky updates after their iPhones got the iOS update. But, it’s definitely a winner in the legacy of the latest iOS.
